Scherak: “On the one hand, ‘Who would decency choose?’ putting up posters and consciously withholding documents on the other hand – that just doesn’t go together.”
Vienna (OTS) – “In this way, the Greens lose even the very last spark of credibility when it comes to transparency,” says the deputy. NEOS club chairman Niki Scherak following the Vorarlberger Nachrichten (VN) was right in the dispute over Covid documents before the Federal Administrative Court. “On the one hand, ‘Who would decency choose?’ putting up posters and deliberately withholding documents on the other hand – these simply don’t go together. No matter how often the vice chancellor and club chairperson can claim that they would do everything in their power to promote more transparency. If they don’t even manage to comply with the applicable legal situation, then I see blackness in favor of a freedom of information law.”
Only NEOS would be the only party really committed to a “transparent state”, according to Scherak: “We now need a real freedom of information law and an end to official secrecy in Austria. The BVwG’s finding is another vivid example of how shamelessly the Greens throw their beliefs overboard just to remain in power. One thing is clear once and for all: decency would no longer choose the Greens.”
