Wall Collapse in Liège: Traffic Diversion & Building Safety Updates

On Monday, around 8:30 p.m., a wall collapsed in the backyard of the building located at number 10 Place Saint-Pholien in the Outremeuse district of Liège. An incident caused by a stability problem as reported by the Liège police.

A diversion in place

The building affected by the disaster is located at the corner of the square and rue Chaussée des Prés. The latter is therefore closed to traffic between Place Saint-Pholien and Rue Saint-Éloi. “A diversion is set up via the boulevard de l’Est”, specifies the police zone of Liège.

The police point out that residents who live on the portion closed to traffic will still be able to access it via Saint-Éloi Street. Note rue Chaussée des Prés, the direction of traffic will be reversed between place Saint-Pholien and rue Saint-Éloi.

“This measure will apply 24 to 48 hours, the time for the assessment of the situation by a stability engineer”, adds the Liège police zone.

No injuries were reported and the three occupants of the building were to be relocated on Monday evening.
