Odell Beckham Jr. is regarding to make his NFL comeback. If he starts the hot phase of preparation with his new team at the Baltimore Ravens in the training camp this week, it might also be the beginning of the end – because OBJ expressly does not rule out the end of his career.
“I feel like this is my last year,” Beckham told TheAthletic of his attitude following sustaining a serious knee injury in the 2022 Super Bowl win with the Rams and not having played since. “I will give everything this year. And if something happens following that, we can go from there.”
Odell Beckham Jr.: Convinced with a lot of money
Interesting: Beckham didn’t actually want to go to the Ravens, who didn’t give him a long-term contract, but did give him a $15 million contract – plus another $3 million in possible bonuses. In doing so, they lured Beckham over to their quarterback Lamar Jackson. Both should now lead the team towards the Super Bowl.
Beckham said he resisted the Ravens. “There were other places I wanted to go. I wasn’t exactly a Ravens fan because the Ravens used to kick my butt.”
But money can sometimes work wonders.
It almost didn’t get that far, however, because OBJ was already thinking regarding retiring following the Super Bowl. After all, the knee injury wasn’t the first of his career. “I’ve been through a lot over the past few years and I thought it was over,” Beckham said.
Anticipation is great
But he wants to know it once more, so the anticipation of the 30-year-old is correspondingly high. “I’m excited. It’s been a long time waiting and watching other people and not being able to play,” Beckham said. “I’ve waited for this moment for a long time. I think at the end of the day my story is regarding resilience and that I can always come back.”
