LONDON (AP) — Elon Musk on Monday filed a new black and white X logo to replace the famous blue bird of Twitter, within its campaign to change the image of the platform that it bought for 44,000 million dollars last year.

Musk replaced his Twitter icon with a white X on a black background and posted a photo of the design projected over the company’s San Francisco headquarters.

The X was seen at the top of the desktop version of the social network on Monday, although the bird still dominated the mobile app.

Musk had asked his followers for ideas and chose one, which he described as minimalist Art Deco and “will certainly be refined.”

“And soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, little by little, to all the birds,” Musk tweeted on Sunday.

The billionaire runs the rocket company Space Exploration Technologies Corp., popularly known as SpaceX. And in 1999 he founded a company called X.com, an internet financial services firm now known as PayPal.

The X.com domain was now redirecting users to Twitter.com, Musk said.

In response to questions regarding what the tweets would be called when the rebrand was complete, Musk said they would be called Xs.
