We’re a week away from the big Hollywood strike, with actors and screenwriters doing what they can to secure the future of their professions. Better working conditions, tighter controls on AI, and fair wages are just some of the issues those involved are fighting for, and they’re not regarding to compromise. So says one of the strike leaders, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who also says the strike might well last into next year. In an interview given to Sydney Morning Heraldhe stated:

“I wouldn’t rule out January or February. Everyone should work hard to make sure this doesn’t happen, but the only way not to is to find a path to a fair deal.

“And we are not going to compromise on the fundamental principles of fairness that our employees fight for. »

He also went on to say that talks between the strikers and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are currently at an impasse with no ongoing conversations.

“I sent a letter to the AMPTP officially informing them of the strike, but other than that there was no direct communication between us. Of course, there are always rear channels, but that hasn’t worked so far. »

In short, it does not look very promising and if the strike continues, the coming months will miss a lot of new firsts.
