2000 francs for the perfect holiday picture in a flowing dress? This offer is booming on the Greek island of Santorini. But photo shoots of this kind are also trending in Bali or Dubai.

Perfectly styled women, white and blue houses, the glittering sea in the background and long dresses flapping in the wind – what might have come from a commercial are actually holiday pictures on the Greek island of Santorini. And tourists are happy to shell out up to 2,000 francs for this.
The company is behind it Santorini Flying Dresses, which has been offering photoshoots with “flying clothes” since 2015. Interested parties can choose between different packages. The cheapest shoot costs 300 francs, including a professional photo team – but without a dress. So if you don’t happen to have a satin dress several meters long hanging in your closet, you’ll have to dig deeper into your pockets for better or worse.
Another option is, for example, a one-hour shoot including a dress for 470 francs. At a price of 750 francs, hair and make-up are also included, and for 770 francs there is a double photo shoot with your best friend, daughter or partner.
But it can be even more exclusive: With the Santorini Exclusive Package you will be picked up in advance, have three hours for the perfect shot, you can pose in three different clothes and you will be given refreshments in between. Cost: 2000 francs.
Flying dresses are also a hype in Dubai and Bali
According to “Bloomberg”, the photo shoots are a million-dollar business worldwide. The flying clothes business is not only booming on Santorini. There are also various photo studios at other holiday destinations, such as Dubai or Bali, which sense big business and offer similar photo shoots. Be it on the swing, in the desert with a camel or in front of the skyline: there are no limits to your imagination.
The prices are similar to those on Santorini. For example, a shoot in Bali costs the studio Bali Flying Dress 430 francs. And also at Flying Dress Photoshoot Dubai the packages cost between 285 and 600 francs. According to “Bloomberg”, this is a million-dollar business worldwide. “We’ve had people who came just for their shoot,” says Chrisan Hunter, who founded the flying dress photo service HerDress Jamaica in August 2020. “They come for three days, then they go once more.”
