Leeds United are regrouping following being relegated from the Premier League. Also with the help of the owners of the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers. Because the owner group “49ers Enterprises” is now taking over the traditional club completely.
The two NBA players Larry Nance Jr. (New Orleans Pelicans) and TJ McConnell (Indiana Pacers) are also joining as partial investors.
The takeover of Leeds United was gradual, “49ers Enterprises” had started its investment in 2018 with just $ 13.6 million and 15 percent of the shares. In 2021, the shares were increased to 44 percent.
The purchase price should be around 200 million euros
What the remaining 56 percent have now cost has not been communicated. As British media reports, the takeover price is said to be almost 200 million euros. The previous majority owner Andrea Radrizzani bought the club in 2014 for only around 50 million euros.
“Both parties are continuing to work out the details and more information will be announced shortly,” the club said. “Our whole focus remains on a speedy return to the Premier League.”
Will Daniel Farke take over at Leeds?
Leeds will play in the second tier Championship next season following being relegated from the Premier League. It is quite possible that an ex-Bundesliga coach will tackle the mission of re-promotion. According to “Bild”, Daniel Farke, who was released at Borussia Mönchengladbach following the season, is a candidate in Leeds to inherit Sam Allardyce, from whom the club separated following relegation.
For Farke it would be a return. Farke coached Norwich City between 2017 and 2021 and led the club back to the Premier League twice in 2019 and 2021.
