In this brief video highlight from the Acceleration Economy course The Cloud Wars Top 10: How It Works, Why It Has Shifted, & How CXOs Use It, Tom Smith and Bob Evans discuss Celonis‘ innovative approach to its ecosystem and API, which helps put process mining in the hands of a wider range of businesses and users. The discussion covers why Celonis is on the Cloud Wars Horizon.
This episode is sponsored by Acceleration Economy’s “Cloud Wars Top 10 Course,” which explains how Bob Evans builds and updates the Cloud Wars Top 10 ranking, as well as how C-suite executives use the list to inform strategic cloud purchase decisions. The course is available today.
Highlights
00:01 — Celonis recently introduced object-centric process mining, which provides a comprehensive view of a process, “versus just drilling into individual pieces.” As the process mining market leader, “you certainly expect them to lead in that way.”
00:19 — As it relates to innovation, Celonis is redefining the notion through unique approaches to its ecosystem and its application programming interface (API). By nature, Celonis extracts data from many sources — as such, it needs a vibrant ecosystem in order to do that. “But they’re also increasingly emphasizing their own API to expose process mining data and make it available to lots of other systems and lots of other places.”
00:57 — While it is not particularly unique for a company to provide an API to partners and customers, Celonis is positioning its API model in a way that supports its overall goal of democratizing process mining. “From my perspective, its ecosystem and its API are foundational to its ability to innovate and put process mining into the hands of as many companies and people as possible,” notes Tom.
