In 2010 Michaël Youn’s very first film as a director was released: Fatal, broadcast on Sunday July 23, 2023 at 9:05 p.m. on W9. In this completely delirious feature film regarding a rapper in search of meaning in his life, the actor known for his roles in La Beuze (2003), Iznogoud (2005), or Rendez-vous chez les Malawas (2019) plays Robert Lafondue, alias Fatal Bazooka. His main adversary in the film, Chris Prolls, an eco-musician who does “electro-bio” and prefers to defecate in his garden to preserve groundwater, is played by Stéphane Rousseau. But since the release of the film 13 years ago, what has become of the Canadian comedian?
How did the filming of Fatal go for Stéphane Rousseau and Michaël Youn?
In an interview given to Télé-Loisirs when the film was released, Stéphane Rousseau described his character as “a little more aware, very politically correct. Even if his primary goal is to sell albums, he is a vegetarian, eats absolutely nothing, and rides a bicycle”. Even if the days of filming in skinny pants were sometimes a bit suffocating, he is delighted to have been able to share this experience with Michaël Youn. The director said of his recruit in the film’s press kit that he “gives off a universal Jean Claude Van Damme side, of the kind I speak to the earth as a whole, which [lui] it rained a lot. In the screenplay, the role was a bit trendier, à la Julien Doré, but Stéphane gave it a more popular dimension which I immediately liked. He has so much presence on the screen, he is so graphic, that the question of whether it was him or not cannot be asked. ” After the success of the film, the Canadian comedian appeared once more in the cinema in two films by his ex-girlfriend Reem Kherici: Paris at all costs (2013) and D-Day (2017).

The Quebec newspaper reveals that it is thanks to humor that Stéphane Rousseau managed to get out of it, leaving “on tour in the bars of Quebec in the company of Roméo Pérusse, even in the bars of dancers”.
