The fun just east of the Strip will continue.
“BattleBots – Destruct-A-Thon” is gaining momentum as it rebuilds robots at BattleBots Arena just east of Horseshoe Las Vegas.
Executive producer Tom Gutteridge told us following Thursday’s show that the robot production will be sold through Labor Day. An explosive development, as far as robots are concerned, in the Las Vegas entertainment scene.
This exercise in destruction is hosted by the humans Bil Dwyer and Steve Judkins, and stars robotic icons like the Witch Doctor, Kraken, Mammoth, Hypershock and Whiplash.
The show also adds a Saturday matinee at 2 pm and increases the capacity of its Platinum Lounge by 20 percent. The price for a table for four is $770 (table service and appetizers included, plus robotic violence). Standard seats start at $59 and VIP tickets start at $125.
They are popular seats. As Gutteridge explains, “You’re in the first two rows, right in front of the butcher shop.”
New port for this crew
Yacht rock band Docksiders move to their second Las Vegas venue, Notoriety Live at Neonopolis. Under the direction of Kevin Sucher, the group performed at The Duomo from September to November of last year.
The show will be on Thursdays at 7 pm in the Robin Leach Showroom, one of the Notoriety Live rooms. Tickets are on sale through the end of the year, starting at $25 general admission and $45 for VIP (not including tax) at NotorietyLive.com.
“It’s an honor to headline Las Vegas, and The Docksiders are ready to set sail downtown with a yacht rock experience,” Sucher says. “The Docksiders are known for lifting people out of their seats, making them dance and sing while being transported back in time to soft rock hits that have been timeless for decades – expect that and more, with our new show.”
Sucher has been a producer, artist and tour manager for many years, having worked with industry heavyweights such as Stevie Wonder and Gwen Stefani. Featuring Sucher’s wife Erin, the group’s stupendous co-vocalist, the band pays tribute to Olivia Newton-John, Toto, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Hall & Oates, Christopher Cross and Ambrosia.
is our idol
Days following we were asked regarding The Chelsea’s booking strategy at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Billy Idol was announced as the venue’s headliner for October 20-28. Idol performed at his exclusive VIP acoustic concert at the Hoover Dam on Saturday. It is not known how his effort to disseminate information regarding the drought, the reason for his presentation, will progress.
¿Vinny? ¡G!
Vinny Guadagnino returns for the fifth time as a Alex Reed host of “Chippendales” in Rio, from August 31 to October 8. The “Jersey Shore” mainstay is a hit with fans, cast and (in this case) the media. He is a great ambassador for the show and for Las Vegas.
great healing action
TV and recording superstar Tony Orlando and drumming legend Steve Gadd performed at the Santa Fe & the Fat City Horns show on Monday night. Gadd is currently on tour with James Taylor and has been featured in Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” and “Late in the Evening”, Rickie Lee Jones’ “Chuck E.’s in Love” and is in “The Hustle”. He has toured with Eric Clapton and Chick Corea. Huge figure of battery culture.
Exit Alert Cool
Today we have in ASG (Great Exit Alert) a true star of the stage and television. John O’Hurley is one of our all-time favorites on the Las Vegas stage, dating back to his days as King Arthur in “Monty Python’s Spamalot” at the Encore Theater. O’Hurley is best known for his recurring role as the fictional version of clothing company founder J. Peterman on “Seinfeld.”
The multi-talented entertainer performs at a classic Las Vegas venue, the Italian American Club Showroom, on Thursday night at “A Man With Standards.” Doors at 6 am, dinner at 6:30, show at 8. O’Hurley mixes reflections with selections from the Great American Songbook. A great reservation, very great.
