Too often “clash prevails over dialogue” in the political arena, deplores Prime Minister Alexander De Croo in an open letter to Belgians. He once more abstains from making promises and promises to “work tirelessly for a better policy”.

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo addresses Belgians in a column published in several Belgian newspapers (French, Dutch and German) on Saturday, in which he deplores that too often “the clash prevails over the dialogue” in the political arena.

In this page, the Liberal promises to working tirelessly for a better policy.

“Dear Belgians, dear Belgians, in recent days you have probably opened your eyes wide watching the political arena. Every day, the press reports new bickering between politicians who prefer confrontation to cooperation. The political class is sometimes so preoccupied with itself that it forgets the people and the causes it must serve. I am not throwing stones at anyone. It happens to all of us from time to time. I made mistakes myself and I regret itbut I am not resigned for all that”, writes the Liberal Prime Minister in this infomercial.

“Instead of constantly shifting the blame back and forth across the linguistic border, we need to build bridges. Instead of spending our time listing everything that’s wrong, we’d better try hard to improve things,” the leader enjoined in his missive, accompanied by a large photo but without the logo of his party, the Open VLD, insisting that fellow citizens are entitled to expect cooperation within the political world.

Alexander De Croo once more refrains from making promises when “too many have been thrown into the air” but promises to “work tirelessly for a better policy”.
