In addition, construction sites, accidents and Formula 1 in Budapest

Vienna (OTS) As feared by the ÖAMTC experts, on Saturday, July 22, traffic jams and obstructions on Austria’s main routes and in neighboring countries already occurred early in the morning.

The focus in Austria was in Tyrol on the Fernpass route (B179) between Füssen and Nassereith and on the Brenner Autobahn (A13) before the Schönberg toll booth. In Salzburg, ÖAMTC traffic jam advisor Herbert Thaler reported long columns on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) heading south in front of a construction site between Hüttau and Flachau and in front of the St. Michael toll station. In Carinthia, holidaymakers had to wait more than an hour in front of the Karawanken Tunnel (A11) to leave for Slovenia. On the approach to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Budapest, several accidents on the Ost Autobahn (A4) in the Bruck an der Leitha-Bruckneudorf construction site area led to a backlog of more than seven kilometers.

Congestion hotspots in neighboring countries

On the access road to Formula 1 in Hungary, there were more than 35 kilometers of convoy traffic on the M1, Nickelsdorf-Budapest connection, in front of several construction site areas, with occasional standstills. In Slovenia, the columns on the A1 in the Marburg area were more than ten kilometers behind. In Bavaria, our “flying eye from the ADAC partner club” (Stauffluger) reported more than 15 kilometers of traffic jams towards Munich on the A8 following several accidents in the Chiemsee area.

“Next weekend, the start of the holidays in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the main routes to the south will be subject to even more traffic,” concludes ÖAMTC traffic jam advisor Herbert Thaler.
