2022 Income Tax Notices: Refunds for 15 Million French People and Additional Payments for 10 Million

The arrival of the 2022 income tax notices is approaching.

It is from this Monday, July 24 in paper format, or Wednesday July 26 onlinethat the French will discover their official declaration of income for the year 2022. Then, each taxpayer will know if he has paid too much or not enough tax.

15 million French people will receive a refund, 10 million will have to pay more

According to information from echoes obtained from the Directorate General of Public Finances, some 9.6 million tax households will have to go back to the fund, the withholding tax levied in recent months being insufficient in relation to their income. For these French people, the average sum to be sent to the State thus amounts to 2 259 euros.

Conversely, some taxpayers have paid too much withholding tax given their income. In the next few days, they will therefore receive an overpayment. Some 15 million households are affected by a refund of 844 euros on average. This will be done by cheque.
