Mélanie Couture presented her “line-up” to an impassive and barely warmed-up audience on Friday evening at the Just for Laughs festival.

“I was at Yvon Deschamps’ last gala yesterday [jeudi] evening, can you tell yourself that it’s a nasty “drop” tonight, “she said, with a crooked smile, to the crowd, seated on the stairs of Place des Arts, who did not react much to what was happening on stage. The floor was also very moving. People stopped there for a moment, took a look at the comedians, and continued on their way to other scenes or in search of food.

The comedian and author did not let herself be intimidated, however, and offered a good first number, well put together, before welcoming her guests.

Nadine Massie, who has already provided the first parts of the host on tour, was the first to run. She also did well, extracting a few laughs from the unresponsive public.

Erich Preach, who hosts the podcast “The Fallopians” with Mélanie, then continued with a number in which he notes that he has aged – he received a PS5 at his party, but would have preferred a Dyson – and in which he returns to the existential thoughts he has in the shower regarding extraterrestrials and when they will come to earth.

“I’m afraid of the moment when we will have to collectively have a conversation with them to explain to them why in all the films in which they are staged they are killed”, he raised.

However, it was the performances of Alphé Gagné and Steven Bilodeau that aroused the strongest reactions.

Alphé Gagné, who can be heard in “Le retour dans un instant” at 96.9 CKOI, presented a number in which he talks regarding his childhood with his four sisters, and his trick of looking away from his “sugar bunnies”; colored shoes.

However, it was in his “crowd work” that he most attracted the attention of people who were listening more and more.

Up-and-coming comedian Steven Bilodeau, retired from the Canadian Armed Forces following 20 years of service and post-traumatic shock syndrome, thus making him go from “GI Joe to GI Joke”, also made a good number. Possibly the one that appealed to the audience the most.
