Check the label
Before you buy it, make sure that your swimsuit is not only for the dry cleaning method.
If so, it should be cleaned at a dry cleaning shop.
Check fabric type
A scientist working for the cleaning products company Clorox specifies that the majority of swimsuits contain a chemical material requiring special vigilance when it comes time to clean your swimsuit with bleach.
“We can believe that almost all swimsuits contain elastane, in addition to traditional materials such as polyester, nylon or cotton”, expresses Mary Gagliardi.
“Spandex pairs poorly with bleach, especially sodium hypochlorite, which yellows spandex fibers and can degrade them over time, causing them to lose their elasticity.”
If you want to use a stain remover and laundry bleach to wash your bathing suit, Ms. Gagliardi assures that the action does not involve risks, as long as you do not let it soak for more than 10 minutes.

· What cleaning cycle for the washer?
The specialist from the multinational Clorox is clear and clear: your swimsuits should be washed in very hot water.
“Select the gentle cycle and the highest possible temperature for better cleaning […] the highest temperature in a hot water cycle is usually 104 degrees Fahrenheit,” notes the American.
She adds that fabrics like nylon and spandex are more sensitive to hot water.
The dryer, not a good idea
To prevent it from losing its original shape, the expert says that it is best to dry swimsuits on a dryer following washing.
“Let (it) dry for 24 hours so that it has time to regain its shape […] do not dry it in the sunlight. UV light can cause discoloration”, informs for his part Darenton Randall, employee at Procter & Gamble.
