Governing politics should borrow more from culture
You may or may not like various types of art, culture and music, but this “disliking” will never end in hatred, separation or rejection – politics can learn a lot from that.

Upper Austria/Linz (OTS) – The Linz plaster spectacle, which started on Thursday, once once more casts a spell over more than 100 artists and over 200,000 visitors. Right in the middle – albeit “only” as a listener: LAbg Manuel Krautgartner, MFG-Upper Austria club chairman, himself an enthusiastic band member and amateur musician: “The plaster spectacle should not and must not be politicized – and that’s exactly why politics might learn so much regarding tolerance and ‘prohibition culture’,” says the singing MFG club chairman.
Music and culture are an incredibly important part of our society, the interpretation of values - whether left, center or right – plays almost no role here. Almost everything is allowed, which does not mean that you have to like everything. “We can all still learn a lot from music and culture, because it puts what connects before what separates. There is no such thing as being ‘opposed’ or even being excluded,” says Manuel Krautgartner, who is deliberately pointing out the unspeakable restrictions on civil liberties, but also on freedom of expression and diversity of opinion in recent years. The Linz district spokeswoman Petra Lindner adds the quote: ‘Art is a mediator of the unspeakable’ by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, thereby emphasizing the important role art plays, especially when politics and the media no longer do justice to their role.
If someone doesn’t like an artist or the art they are performing at the Linzer plaster spectacle, they just keep walking, but still show respect to the person: “No one would whistle or demand that their performance be banned or even expelled from the seat,” says Krautgartner.

In this context, Krautgartner finds it irritating that exactly this art is repeatedly politically abused – for example by the climate stickers – or rather the “climate shakers”, when this group destroys valuable works of art with paint or other utensils – just to attract attention: “That too is an absolute disrespect for art and shows a high degree of intolerance.”
