Ferenci: “Always ready for talks on an equal footing with the City of Vienna, it’s regarding the well-being of the patients”
Vienna (OTS) – The Vienna Medical Association is in solidarity with the Ottakring Clinic strike committee, which is drawing attention to the difficult situation, especially in the central emergency room. In a broadcast, the spokespersons of the committee defend themselves once morest allegations by City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker and emphasize the urgent need for action. It is not regarding a dispute between the City of Vienna and the Medical Association, but regarding the well-being of the patients.
Stefan Ferenci, Vice President of the Vienna Medical Association and Chairman of the Curia for employed doctors, says: “Our hand is stretched out. We are always ready for talks on an equal footing with the City of Vienna or City Council Hacker. And without any preconditions.” Ferenci continued, instead of talking regarding past failures, we finally had to talk regarding viable solutions for the future.
“It must be clear that the health staff in the Ottakring Clinic as well as in many other public hospitals are working beyond the load limit in rows. Therefore, urgent measures are needed first to combat health worker frustration and churn plans,” Ferenci said. To this end, the Vienna Medical Association has drawn up a “10-point plan to save Vienna’s hospitals”. This has already been handed over to City Council Hacker. Ferenci: “It’s regarding noticeably better working conditions, from nursing to the medical profession. We consistently stand by our colleagues who are fighting for it. Our common goal is the best possible patient care.” Reports of danger and overload, as mentioned by the strike committee, are an alarming sign. “In the interests of the Viennese population and health workers, we are always ready to talk,” Ferenci concludes.
