Representatives of the national government and the opposition will meet on November 11 in Paris, as part of the Peace Forum program.
This was announced by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, in an interview with W Radio, following the EU-Celac summit.
The agreement came following the meeting in Brussels in which the Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and the head of the Unitary Platform, Gerardo Blyde, accepted the invitation of the French president.
The III Summit of Leaders of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) was attended by the President of Brazil, Lula da Silva; the one from Argentina, Alberto Fernández; Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia, and Josep Borrell representative of the EU.
The Latin American countries were there to offer their solidarity with Venezuela.
Meanwhile, the national opposition demanded, “respect for the primary elections.” In addition, they specified in the dialogue, to obtain strategies to improve policies and resume the talks in Mexico, the next elections and the pact signed on November 26, 2022.
The statement pointed out: “This process must be accompanied by the lifting of sanctions of all kinds, with a view to their total lifting.”
Also, they reached an agreement where “They proposed that the participants in the meeting continue to dialogue within the framework of the established initiatives and can take stock once more during the Paris Peace Forum on November 11, 2023“.
