This Friday, we will celebrate the National Day in Belgium. A day that commemorates the oath taken by the first King of the Belgians, Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Ghota, on July 18, 1831. An important oath because it marks the creation of an independent Belgium, under the regime of a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary.
July 21 will become, in 1890, the official date of the Belgian National Day. This year, we will celebrate the 10 years of reign of King Philippe. For this day, several festivities are expected in the capital.
But before that, two appointments not to be missed this Thursday evening. From 7:30 p.m., the National Ball takes over Place du Jeu de Balle. In the program ? An introduction to dance followed by a series of free concerts.
And as a prelude to the National Day, a classical music concert organized by the Queen Elisabeth Competition awaits you from 8 p.m., in Flagey.
Here’s what to expect on Friday
The festivities take place throughout the day from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Giant table football, crossfit, minigolf, zumba… hundreds of free activities will be organized in the heart of Brussels from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
