(Motorsport-Total.com) – Nyck de Vries contacted AlphaTauri for the first time following his Formula 1 exit and also reacted to fake statements that some media had accused him of. The Dutchman writes in a post on Instagram that he has decided to take a break from social media.

Nyck de Vries’ Formula 1 dream has now burst

De Vries was fired by Red Bull following the Formula 1 race at Silverstone and replaced by Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri. “Of course it hurts that the Formula 1 opportunity I’ve dreamed of for so long ended prematurely,” he writes. “But life isn’t a destination, it’s a journey, and sometimes you have to walk a hard road to get there.”

He thanks Red Bull and AlphaTauri for the opportunity to “live my dream” and is “grateful for our privileged life, proud of our journey and my family,” said de Vries. “This is just another experience; we move on and look forward to the next chapter.”

A number of damaging comments by de Vries, citing Italian media outlets, have been circulating around the internet in recent days. In these he is said to have said, among other things, that he was promised the second Red Bull cockpit for 2025, but that he was not surprised at the end, since Red Bull 2021 also stole Lewis Hamilton’s eighth world title.

De Vries describes it as an “interesting article”, but denies having made the statements: “To be clear, I have not spoken to any medium and will first enjoy some time to myself.”

It is currently unclear what will happen next for the 28-year-old. His Formula 1 career seems to be over for the time being following eleven races. His best result in the premier class was ninth at the 2022 Monza race for Williams. In his ten Grands Prix with AlphaTauri, he did not get past twelfth place in Monaco.
