Apple’s Vision Pro headset manages to speak to the entire tech world, but it’s still not clear exactly how it will work with prescription lenses used by eyeglass wearers around the world. Apple said it will let you add special edition lenses to the Vision Pro, but pricing is undetermined, and according to journalist Mark Gorman, they might cost as much as $600. Now, a new patent for augmented reality (AR) glasses coming from Apple suggests that there may be a much better and cheaper way to do it, Digital Trend reports. The patent describes how the lenses of future wearable devices — such as a pair of augmented reality glasses — can be quickly adjusted to fit your prescription, and this can be done while you wear them, meaning no need to strap on lenses or try out accessories that don’t work for you. One way to do this is to allow you to focus on something far away, and then you can use a controller to adjust the power of the lenses so that the object is in focus. Interestingly, the Apple patent says you can rotate the Digital Crown on the Apple Watch until the lenses are centered properly, and this seems like a very intuitive way to make quick adjustments to AR glasses.
