MANCHESTER, England (AP) — After the best season of his career, Marcus Rashford committed to five more years with Manchester United on Tuesday.
The English striker put an end to the guesswork by signing a long-term deal that ensures his presence at Old Trafford until 2028.
Rashford scored 30 goals in all competitions last season and filled the gap left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in November. He established himself as one of the assets of a United that qualified for the Champions League and won the English League Cup.
“I joined Manchester United when I was seven years old. The passion, pride and determination to succeed that I had back then still drive me to put on this shirt,” Rashford said in a statement released by the club. “I have already had some incredible experiences at this great club, but there is still much more to achieve, and I remain fully committed to winning more trophies in the years to come.”
Rashford has made 359 appearances for United having emerged from the club’s youth system. He has scored 123 goals.
He resurfaced last season under new manager Erik ten Hag following a year marked by physical problems that cost him a starting job for England. He recovered and shone at the World Cup in Qatar in November and December 2022.
