On the occasion of the 75th anniversary as a sports car manufacturer, Porsche launched a donation initiative last weekend at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: For each of the race laps driven by the three works Porsche 963, 750 euros flowed into a special fund for the “Racing for Charity” campaign .
The hybrid prototypes from Porsche Penske Motorsport completed a total of 733 laps at the 100th anniversary of the world’s most famous endurance race. The resulting donation sum of 549,750 euros is increased by Porsche to 911,000 euros on the occasion of its anniversary. The money will benefit three non-profit organizations.
The Save Children’s Hearts and Interplast Germany associations will each receive 350,000 euros. The money is used to help children from developing and crisis areas who suffer from heart disease, injuries, cripples or burns. The remaining 211,000 euros will go to the Ferry Porsche Foundation, which was launched in May 2018 to mark the brand’s 70th anniversary. With the donation, seriously ill children and their families are relieved in everyday life in order to give them a few carefree moments. (awm)
