The online publication, AIRMAG, refers to a meeting that took place at the end of last week between the management of Air Antilles and Air Guyane and the trade unionists of the SNPL, representatives of the pilots of the organization.
According to AIRMAG, the meeting was cut short. Union representatives left the scene following only a few minutes denouncing “contemptuous behavior” by Eric Koury, CEO of Air Antilles and Air Guyane.
The strike started since July 14 for a period of 4 days, will therefore be renewed for an unlimited period from July 20, 2023.
According to the SNPL, the first movement was followed by 95% of Air Guyane pilots and 60% of Air Antilles pilots.
At the center of the demands, the revaluation of the salaries of the pilots. The union is asking for a 15% increase, but the management’s proposal does not exceed 1%.
Commercial flight attendants (PNC) and cabin crew members are also threatening to go on strike. According to AIRMAG, “ they are waiting to find out if their 13th month of 2022 will be paid out.”
Pilots and aircrew also complain regarding working conditions.
According to Eric Koury, CEO of Air Guyane and Air Antilles, who spoke to AIRMAG, the impact of the strike would not be so dramatic, for the moment.
At this stage we are carrying out 75 to 80% of the flights with a little delay and we have routed those who have not been able to fly with us to other regular companies or via charters.

And yet, according to AIRMAG, the debt ratio of Air Guyane and Air Antilles exceeds 35 million euros. The situation of the two airlines would have been further weakened by the health crisis.
The long holiday period is profitable for the aeronautical sector. The extension of the strike at Air Guyane and Air Antilles will have a negative impact on turnover.
But the threat of a bankruptcy filing brandished by the management of Air Antilles and Air Guyane does not change the determination of the pilots.
According to trade unionists, the management systematically evokes the danger of bankruptcy to put an end to the demands of the staff.
At Air Guyane and Air Antilles, in this deteriorated social climate, dialogue is very difficult between management and the union.
