Ukrainian military officials said on Monday that Russia has assembled a large army to launch an offensive in the Kupiansk region of northeastern Ukraine, where heavy fighting is raging.

“For two consecutive days, the enemy has been actively attacking in the Kupyansk region of the Kharkiv region,” Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar wrote on the messaging app Telegram.

“We’re on the defensive. There’s a lot of fighting going on, and the positions of the two sides change dynamically many times a day,” Marial said.

Serhiy Cherevatyi, spokesman for Ukraine’s Eastern Military District Command, told state television that Russian forces had assembled more than 100,000 troops and more than 900 tanks in the region.

Chilevati also said Ukrainian forces held their ground. But Archyde.com was unable to verify the Ukrainian military’s version of the situation on the battlefield. (Translator: Chen Yanjun) 1120718
