With the availability of the OnePlus 11, we are already looking at its likely successor, the OnePlus 12. Although not ready to launch anytime soon, it is under advanced development.
Leaks regarding the smartphone are already circulating, with renders showing a slightly different design to the OnePlus 11. While the OnePlus 11 is a great phone, it’s not perfect. However, the following things might make the next model much better.
Better water resistance
Most high-end phones these days have a certification IP68. This certification guarantees their ability to survive aquatic incidents for approximately 30 minutes. But the OnePlus 11 only has an IP64 certification, which means it can withstand splashes, but not much more.
It’s a real disappointment for a phone of this price, especially since some previous models had an IP68 certification. So for the OnePlus 12, we want that certification to return.
A less slippery finish
The OnePlus 11 is a reasonably attractive phone. However, in our test, we found thatit was also quite slippery. So it’s easy to drop it, or even drag it off your desk.
Coupled with the lack of significant water resistance, this makes the extremely vulnerable OnePlus 11. Hopefully the company will fix this issue for the OnePlus 12.
A true telephoto camera
The OnePlus 11 only has2x optical zoom, which is nice for portraits. However, it is not not very practical for taking pictures of distant objects. It is also far behind the competitors.
Additionally, these competitors typically offer at least 3x optical zoom, and in some cases up to 10x. We would therefore like see three times or more optical zoom on the OnePlus 12. This would help make the camera setup much more versatile.
Wireless charging
Like water resistance, wireless charging is a fairly standard feature for high-end phones. However, it is not present on the OnePlus 11.
The phone charges at least quickly. Not everyone will regret the absence of wireless charging. However, it is a popular feature and one we would expect to see. SO, hope the OnePlus 12 will include it.
An equivalent charging speed
The OnePlus 11 is a fast charging phone. However, the speed depends on the country you are in. Most units charge at 100W, but in the US they top out at 80W.
There are reasons for this. 110V outlets in the US do not fully support the company’s fastest charging technology. However, hopefully this can be fixed for the OnePlus 12.
While 80W is still plenty fast, it’s a shame buyers in the US are getting a slightly lower version of one of OnePlus’ best phones.
