Expected for many years, Sony’s response to Microsoft and its excellent Xbox Adaptive Controller now has a specific release date: December 6.

Not at all the same design, but the same aim… and above all the same relevance (at least we hope) as the very good Xbox Adaptive Controller from Microsoft for gamers who don’t have quite the same motor skills as the others. This is what we can say regarding Sony’s new “Access Controller” controller, dedicated to PlayStation 5 players with disabilities. Through a post shared on July 13 on the PlayStation blog, the Japanese giant now gives us the price, as well as a precise launch date for its new pad.

We thus learn that the Sony Access Controller will arrive on the market from December 6, 2023, at a price of 89.99 euros in Europe (or penny the same price as the Xbox Adaptive Controller). Pre-orders will begin on July 21.

A controller that adapts… to you

Sony recalls that this new controller, deliberately atypical, was developed in partnership with associations and accessibility experts. It benefits in particulardifferent buttons and joysticks of various designs and shapes, allowing the controller to be used in any orientation, 360°“. Sony says it’s also possible to connect third-party accessibility accessories using four industry-standard 3.5mm expansion ports.

We also learn that it will be possible to pair up to two Sony Access Controller controllers and a DualSense controller for simultaneous use on PS5.
