A woman and her child were killed in Leuven on Monday in a suspected femicide. This was reported by several media and the news is confirmed by the Leuven prosecutor’s office. A second child, a baby, was injured but is out of danger. There is currently no trace of the alleged perpetrator of the attack.
“The police received a complaint on Monday followingnoon around 4:20 p.m. from a man who said he had been contacted by his former employer,” said Julie Plevoets, spokeswoman for the Leuven prosecutor’s office. “This former employer would have told him that he had done something to his wife and children.”
Police teams then went to a building on the Oude Markt and found a woman and a child dead. A baby was also in the building. He was injured, but is now out of danger.
“The federal police laboratory descended on the scene, as well as a forensic pathologist”, continued the spokesperson for the prosecutor. “The local police and the federal judicial police of Leuven are also on site. We are currently trying to determine who the victims are and what happened. An investigation is also underway on the ex-employer mentioned by the journalist.
