That’s it, the Chinese manufacturer MG is finally starting the marketing in France of the long-range MG4, called Luxury extended range. The latter announces up to 520 km of autonomy, with an aggressive price. But not far from the unbeatable Tesla Model 3.

The MG4 is one of the electric cars with the best value for money. It is for this reason in particular that it is selling like hotcakes in Europe and France. So far, the Chinese manufacturer has marketed two different battery sizes (51 and 64 kWh), for a range of between 350 and 450 km. But now the new Luxury extended autonomy version is officially arriving in France.

At the same time, MG has also formalized the MG4 Xpower, the performance version of this electric car
520 km of autonomy for the MG4
With this new battery (with NMC chemistry) of 77 kWh, the official autonomy of the MG4 increases to 520 km, on the WLTP mixed autonomy cycle. This is the Luxury finish that we already knew with the 64 kWh battery. Fast charging goes from 140 to 144 kW, the roof turns black and engine power increases to 180 kW (245 hp) instead of 150 kW (204 hp) on the 64 kWh version.
Be careful however, the recharge time is considerably extended, going from 26 to 38 minutes for exercise from 10 to 80%! It will then be necessary to calculate whether the gain in autonomy compensates for this lower recharging speed on long journeys. As a reminder, the MG4 has been charging much faster since the 2023 model year.
As we learn from complete technical sheet, the torque goes from 250 to 350 Nm, reducing the 0 to 100 km/h which is now reached in 6.5 seconds once morest 7.9 seconds on the version with 64 kWh battery. The speed is limited to 180 km/h (instead of 160 km/h) and consumption is given for 16.5 kWh / 100 km taking into account the losses linked to recharging.
Price and availability
This new MG4 Luxury with extended range is already available to order in France. For the price, we feel that MG feels well established in Europe, and feels comfortable offering less aggressive prices than when it launched its previous models. It takes 39,490 euros (not counting the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros) to get it.
It’s an interesting price, but for comparison, the Tesla Model 3 Propulsion, its almost 300 hp, its range of 510 km, its consumption of 14.4 kWh / 100 km and its fast recharge in 25 minutes claim 41,990 euros. Or 2,500 euros more “only”.
