SumUp exchanges used machines for a new model at points spread across São Paulo
SumUp, a global technology and financial solutions company, will carry out, between July 13th and 21st, an unprecedented campaign: the company will exchange, free of charge, used machines of any brand for the Solo Printer, a new fintech model. In addition to receiving the new machine, entrepreneurs who participate in the campaign will have exclusive conditions to become a SumUp customer.
During the days of the campaign, named “SumUp Exchange Point”, the fintech will have vans, which will function as mobile collection points, in various regions of greater São Paulo.
In partnership with the NGO Sucata Digital, SumUp will recycle 100% of the equipment collected
“We thought of the campaign as a smart and ecologically correct way to present the Solo Printer, our most modern little machine. The model was 100% developed by SumUp and meets the needs of micro and small Brazilian entrepreneurs – contrary to what we normally see in the market, which uses third-party solutions that are very similar to each other. The Solo Printer is a non-standard machine, in the best sense of the term”, says Carlos Grieco, CEO of SumUp in Brazil.
Each exchange point will have a SumUp sales team, which will negotiate exclusive opportunities and discounts with each of the micro or small entrepreneurs who recycle their old equipment.
For seven days, fintech will have mobile collection points spread across São Paulo to collect used machines and exchange them for the Solo Printer, the most modern fintech device
To allocate all replaced equipment to the best recycling option, SumUp entered into a partnership with the NGO Sucata Digital, an institution specialized in recycling electronic materials. “We know that the incorrect disposal of objects such as card readers is very harmful to the environment. Therefore, we are going to do our part: reuse the components of the old machines and reincorporate them into the production cycle”, explains Grieco.
In addition to the free exchange of used machines, the action will bring several other exclusive conditions and discounts for anyone who wants to be a SumUp customer
“We are proud of this incredible partnership with SumUp. It is gratifying to see how they care regarding sustainability and correct disposal. Together, we are promoting environmental awareness and giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to change their machines, at no additional cost, and without neglecting the importance of the circular economy. ‘Let’s go’ with this movement towards a more sustainable future”, says Pamela Pereira Ramos de Oliveira, Marketing manager at Sucata Digital.
SumUp Solo, launched in Brazil in 2022, is a compact card machine with a touch screen and fully developed by SumUp. The little machine guarantees the security of transactions and has an integrated eSIM, a virtual chip that makes the connection faster, as it changes operator according to the best signal available in the region. In May of this year, SumUp launched the Solo Printer, which also issues paper receipts.
The “SumUp Exchange Point” initiative is part of the “Saia do Padrão” campaign, which promotes Solo and the Solo Printer and positions SumUp as an innovative and transformative financial services company. Another campaign action was the Solo Celebration. The event was held on July 6th and celebrated the new moment in the payments market, marked by the success of Solo and the arrival of the Solo Printer in Brazil.
