Genetic variants implicated in autism detected in the general population
Researchers from the Institut Pasteur, CNRS, Institut Universitaire de France, Université Paris Cité and AP-HP compared genetic data from 13,000 people with autism to that of nearly 200,000 individuals. from the general population. While 4% of individuals with autism carry strong genetic variations implicated in autism, nearly 1% of individuals from the general population also carry them and present lower cognitive performance combined with a lower socioeconomic level. The results of this study are published in the journal Nature Medicine on June 26, 2023.
