Requested on Sunday by our colleagues from RTL following the death of her friend, Françoise Hardy, who is fighting cancer herself, confided. She described Jane Birkin as “a great artist, a terrific interpreter for Serge Gainsbourg”.
“It was Thomas who informed me”
The interpreter of “My friend the rose” says that she exchanged fairly regularly with Jane Birkin. “I had texted him on Saturday because I hadn’t received one since the end of June,” she said.
Unsurprisingly, the announcement of his death was a “great shock” for her. “I am very affected”, she insisted with RTL. Françoise Hardy also tells how she learned the sad news: “It was Thomas (Dutronc, his son, editor’s note), who works in the South, who informed me.”
“I hope her death was not too painful because she suffered enough as it was, and I think of her daughters and her family who were everything to her”, concluded the artist.
