Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Egyptian activist Wael Ghonim entered the line of controversy and criticism directed at an upcoming concert by American rapper Travis Scott at the foot of the Giza pyramids, calling on officials to prevent the concert, which sparked an interaction among activists on Twitter.
The American rapper had announced a few days ago, through his Twitter account, the release of his album “Utopia” at the Pyramids of Giza. “I can’t wait to see you,” he said.
The concert is scheduled to be held to launch the American singer’s album on July 28.
Wael Ghonim said in a tweet on his Twitter account, on Sunday: “Good morning, the officials who, God willing, will prevent the party of Travis Scott, the American rapper who is coming to sing his garbage and promote drug addiction next to the great pyramids of Egypt.”
Ghoneim attached his tweet with a picture bearing some words from one of the songs of the American singer.
Tweeters interacted with Wael Ghoneim’s tweet, the most prominent of which were as follows:
Tweeters in Egypt, during the past few days, criticized the upcoming concert that American rapper Travis Rex will perform at the pyramids in Giza Governorate, and they also launched a hashtag to demand that the concert be banned.
Many Egyptians criticize the American singer because of his positions on African centralism (Afrocentric), and the claim that he practices strange rituals in his songs.
