MLS Weekend Defeats: Dante Vanzeir, Christian Benteke, and Logan Ndenbe’s Losses in Major League Soccer

Dante Vanzeir, Christian Benteke and Logan Ndenbe all suffered defeat on Saturday in the North American football championship, Major League Soccer (MLS). Vanzeir and the New York Red Bulls lost at Real Salt Lake (3-1), Benteke and DC United lost to New England Revolution (4-0), and Ndenbe’s Sporting Kansas City were beaten by Austin (2-1).

Dante Vanzeir, holder as in the two previous meetings, played 74 minutes of the match before being replaced. He has so far scored 2 goals in MLS for his club, and an additional in the US Open Cup.

Christian Benteke played the whole match for DC United, but he didn’t find the net. The former Genk and Standard de Liège player has already scored 8 goals this season in 22 MLS appearances, but he hasn’t found the net in six games.

Logan Ndenbe, who started for the first time since June 4 and his injury once morest the Vancouver Whitecaps, played the entire game. He is slowly picking up the pace following missing four games and playing 21 minutes in the next three.

In the standings, the New York Red Bulls are out of the qualifying places for the playoffs. Vanzeir’s club are 11th with 26 points from 23 matches. DC United is currently the play-off, 9th with 30 points in 24 games. The top seven from each conference qualify for the first round, while the 8th and 9th play in the play-offs. In the Western Conference, Sporting Kansas City is 11th with 26 points in 25 games, 3 units from 9th place, and 5 from 7th.
