Original title: Russian president and South African president talk on the phone
On July 15 local time, Russian President Vladimir Putin was invited to hold a telephone conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa thanked Putin for his warm reception of African leaders and representatives during their visit to St. Petersburg in June, as well as the constructive dialogue on possible ways to resolve the situation in Ukraine. Discussions on African peace initiatives will continue at the Russia-Africa summit at the end of July.
Putin and Ramaphosa also agreed to hold separate meetings on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit to exchange in-depth views on bilateral and international agendas. Ramaphosa also briefed on preparations for the BRICS summit scheduled for August 22-24 in Johannesburg.
When discussing the agreement on the export of agricultural products at the Black Sea port, Putin emphasized that the promise in the memorandum between Russia and the United Nations to remove obstacles to Russia’s grain and fertilizer exports has not yet been fulfilled. In addition, the agreement’s main goal of supplying food to countries most in need, including on the African continent, has not been achieved.
Leaders of the two sides reaffirmed their common will to strengthen cooperation in various fields.
