The Salta Public Prosecutor’s Office reported this morning, through the social network Twitter, that the baby was found abandoned out in the open, in a settlement in the city of Tartagal.
The search for the little girl began yesterday, at 7 in the morning, when she was taken from the Maternity Ward of the Juan Domingo Perón Hospital, in the Salta town of Tartagal, located 365 kilometers north of the capital of Salta and just 50 kilometers from the border with Bolivia.
The parents of the baby, who was born on Thursday followingnoon, had to go to the bathroom, and upon returning just five minutes later, they noticed that the girl was not in the crib, so they quickly notified the staff of the clinic.
Upon becoming aware of the case, the doctor on duty alerted the hospital security personnel and they reported the event to the 911 Emergency System, for which the Police immediately intervened and the establishment’s Legal Affairs filed a formal complaint with the prosecutor’s office on duty. .
A search operation was deployed in the hospital and in the different means of transport and routes, with personnel from the local police, the National Gendarmerie and the Federal Police.
Last night, the Attorney General Pedro García Castiella, in response to the seriousness of the abduction of a minor from a hospital and the need for a comprehensive and urgent approach to the situation, formed a Fiscal Unit, made up of criminal prosecutors Rafael José Medina, Pablo Cabot and Lorena Martínez, who jointly investigated the case.
In the framework of the intense search carried out, this morning it was possible to find the little girl, who was immediately transferred to the hospital, where she was reunited with her parents and received medical attention.
Yesterday followingnoon, the Ministry of National Security, in coordination with the Federal System for the Search for Missing and Missing Persons (Sifebu), issued the Sofia Alert for the disappearance of the little girl, who measures 50 centimeters, weighs 2,920 kilograms and as particular signs, that he has black eyes and a mole on his right cheek.
Sofia Alert is a rapid emergency communication system for reporting disappearances of minors in situations that present a high imminent risk to their physical and biopsychosocial integrity.
