The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) is making its sixth commissioning for the 2023 financial year.
The office made operational, Thursday in Guercif, a new project to strengthen and secure the drinking water supply (AEP) of the city, and this from underground water for the benefit of a population of order of 90,000 inhabitants. “This project, at a cost of 14.2 million Dirhams, was carried out within the framework of the partnership agreement for the financing and the realization of urgent and structuring actions at the level of the Hydraulic Basin of Moulouya with a view to mitigate or fill the drinking water deficit recorded in this city given the current situation characterized by water stress,” explains ONEE. And to specify that “this project reinforces the project to strengthen the AEP of Guercif commissioned in July 2020 at a cost of 95 million DH pending the completion of the work of the structuring project to strengthen and secure the ‘AEP de Guercif, from the Targa Ou Madi dam, and whose commissioning is planned before the end of 2023’.
In detail, this new project consists of the equipment of 5 boreholes located in the municipality of Ras Laksar for an overall flow of 60 liters per second, the construction and equipment of a recovery station with tarpaulin and a regulation reservoir as well as the laying of a 1.5 km linear pipe.
Referring to the Office, the flow mobilized by this project will be transited via the adduction already laid on a linear of 60 km within the framework of the structuring project of reinforcement and security of the Drinking Water Supply of the city of Guercif from the Targa Ou Madi dam and which is currently being built by ONEE.
It should be noted that the project to strengthen and secure Guercif’s drinking water supply from groundwater will contribute to improving the living conditions of the beneficiary populations and to the socio-economic development of the Oriental Region.
