Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, commented on the issuance by the Swedish authorities of a permit allowing copies of the Torah and the Bible to be burned in the vicinity of the Israeli embassy in the capital, Stockholm, during a demonstration, on Saturday, according to the Swedish national broadcaster, “Sveriges Radio”.

Herzog said in a tweet on his official Twitter page: “I strongly condemn the State of Sweden for allowing the burning and desecration of the Holy Books… As President of the State of Israel, I condemned what happened in Sweden when the Holy Qur’an, sacred to Muslims all over the world, was burned… And now, too, our hearts tremble because of it.” The intention is to burn the holy book of the Torah, the eternal book of the Jewish people.”

He continued, saying: “The profanation of religions and beliefs is not an exercise of freedom of expression, but rather a blatant incitement and an act of hateful hate that affects the feelings and beliefs of peoples all over the world. The whole world must unite in condemning this hateful act with firmness and clarity.”

It is reported that at the end of last June, a man burned a copy of the Holy Book of Islam outside a mosque in the Swedish capital, which sparked violent protests at the Swedish embassy in Baghdad.
