The services of the FPS Justice will be grouped together in the Eurostation building, near the Gare du Midi, on 40% less surface area than currently.
It is a real estate rationalization operation which was approved this Friday by the Council of Ministers. The various services of the FPS Justice will leave buildings in the capital to be grouped together, by 2026, in the Eurostation building, behind the Gare du Midi, in Brussels. These areas had been vacant since 2021, when FPS Health services moved to the Galilee.
The administration thus reduces the quantity of square meters occupied. The services that will join Eurostation will share approximately 40,000 m2, compared to 65,000 m2 todaya drop of almost 40%.
These are close to 2,200 civil servants who are concerned. They are currently housed in the Bordet, Jean Jacobs, Toison d’Or and WTC III buildings. The first two will be totally abandoned and their lease terminated, the other two will continue to accommodate other state services.
17 million euros in savings
Concretely, it is, among others, the Finance Inspectorate, the Belgian Monitor or the management of penitentiary establishments which will leave their current offices. The moves will be done in several phases, the movement to be completed in 2026. Once the operation is complete, the entire FPS Justice will therefore be grouped together in the same place.
“It’s a good deal”, welcomes Mathieu Michel (MR), Secretary of State in charge of the Buildings Agency, the real estate arm of the Federal government. “We will save 17 million euros per year. And we reduce our CO2 emissions by more than 300 tons annually.”
