A 34-year-old woman died following undergoing an aesthetic procedure in Bogotá. Preliminary versions indicate that the patient left the medical center that performed the surgery unconscious.
The events were recorded on the followingnoon of this July 12 in an aesthetic office in the town of Chapinero (Bogotá). It was the same collaborators from the medical center who alerted the emergency line due to the critical condition of the patient.
The Bogotá Ministry of Health responded to the request for help and sent an ambulance to the aesthetic center located at Calle 100 with Carrera 22. The lifeguards transferred the patient to the Simón Bolívar Hospital, where she would have arrived without vital signs.

At the moment, the authorities are trying to establish the causes of death and are investigating whether the aesthetic center had all the documents to operate in order or if any malpractice was committed during the procedure.
Figures from the Bogotá Ministry of Health indicate that between 2020 and 2022, 7 reports of deaths of people were received during or following undergoing an aesthetic procedure. So far in 2023, two women have lost their lives in the midst of this type of intervention.
The last case was registered last March in the south of Bogotá. A woman went to a clandestine center to undergo liposuction that cost her 1,800,000 pesos. After the surgery, the woman had complications and she died days later in a clinic.

The recommendation of the health authorities is that people interested in performing this type of procedure do so in recognized sites, backed by successful testimonials and with prior verification that the establishment complies with all the operating permits in order.
