English archaeologists from the Museum of London Archeology (MOLA) and the Albion Archeology company have discovered 25 ancient graves in the English county of Bedfordshire. These cavities dug by humans date back more than 8,000 years, and more specifically from the Mesolithic era.

The graves were dug up in the locality of Houghton Regis, north of London, specifies the RTBF. The cavities are 5 meters wide and nearly 2 meters deep. They might be dated thanks to the presence of animal bones found inside.

According to our colleagues, the archaeological site has been qualified as a “prehistoric site of national importance” by the MOLA, which told the BBC that very few sites from this period had been found in the United Kingdom. Currently, the usefulness of these pits is not yet known. Some specialists put forward the hypothesis of a storage space for food. Others rather defend the symbolic and spiritual track. Research will be continued in the laboratory to learn more regarding this incredible discovery.
