TV Garden presenter Andrea Kiewel is annoyed by Mickie Krause because he emphasized her GDR background so strongly.
Mainz/Lerchenberg – West and East Germany shouldn’t have been an issue since 1990. Mickie Krause (53) probably didn’t get the memo, because in the “ZDF TV Garden” he was now riding around on Andrea Kiewel’s (58) GDR background – a little too obvious for the moderator’s taste. And she let him know that she was annoyed by it.

Andrea Kiewel moderated the “Fernsehgarten” for the first time between 2000 and 2007 and then from 2009 to the present day. In 2014 she was even on tour with the popular ZDF music show and without the presenter the format is hardly imaginable. It particularly annoys her to be presented by her guests and constantly changing co-moderators.

Mickie Krause made just such a faux pas when he brought up the birthplace of the former competitive swimmer, the GDR. The topic came up when the two chatted regarding the film “Over the Top,” starring Sylvester Stallone, on the new July 9th TV Garden issue, which Krause co-hosted. It’s regarding a trucker whose big dream is to become world champion in arm wrestling.
Mickie Krause has been a big Stallone fan for decades and that’s why he explained to Kiewel: “This film ran in cinemas in 1987 in the West, Kiwi.” : “Why do you emphasize that? Do you think we had no cinemas in the East?” Krause then rowed back and quickly added that he meant that there was no Stallone in the East. Andrea Kiewel had to reluctantly agree to that. So, good luck once more for Mickie Krause.

Andrea Kiewel: Career start in the GDR – from swimmer to moderator
Andrea Kiewel was born on June 10, 1965 in East Berlin. She initially made a career as a competitive swimmer and even competed in the GDR championships. Her best individual result was sixth place at the 1982 championships, and she won the freestyle relay that same year. She also started as a presenter in the GDR at Deutsches Fernsehen before she moved to the West and started with “Fenster aus Berlin” and “Frühstücksfernsehen” on Sat.1.
