In the sequence, the 42-year-old retired frigate captain can be seen jogging in a park in the Russian city of Krasnodar, in the south of the country.
Dressed in blue sportswear, Rzhitski performs his exercises around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10.
Minutes later, the deputy head of the Krasnodar mobilization department, who was on an unofficial list of war criminals drawn up in Ukraine, was shot dead.
In the images released by media such as New York Post a subject on a bicycle is also seen who seems to be following the track of the sailor although it is not confirmed that he had any participation in the murder.
Police sources indicated that the attacker knew Rzhitski’s movements perfectly since he shot him using a Makarov pistol right in a place that was out of the range of security cameras.
Within a day of the incident, Russian security forces arrested a 64-year-old suspect, identified as Sergei Denisenko, for the homicide.
Stanislav Rzhitsky
The Investigative Committee of Russia noted that the subject “is under investigation for his participation in the murder of Stanislav Rzhitski, deputy head of the mobilization department of the Krasnodar city administration.”
It is believed that the shooter might have followed Rzhitski’s movements through a fitness application in which the Russian shared his running routes.
Another video posted on social networks shows the moment of Denisenko’s arrest in the city of Tuapse. The authorities confirmed that during the procedure they seized a Makarov pistol.
It should be noted that the retired sailor was entrusted with organizing military recruitment in Krasnodar.
