Violence and Chaos in Kolkata West Bengal During Vote Counting

Five more people were killed in Kolkata West Bengal during the counting of votes and the conflict related to it. Four ISF personnel were killed in police firing near the counting center at Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district. The firing took place near the Bhangar 2nd block office. A curfew has been declared in the area. A rally will be held in Kolkata on Thursday evening under the leadership of Left parties, Congress and ISF to protest the firing. Trinamool members bombed and killed a Congress worker in Purva Burdwan district. During the victory celebrations, Trinamool is carrying out widespread attacks in the entire state. Party offices and workers’ houses of the opposition parties, including the CPI-M, were extensively vandalized. A Congress worker who was injured in the attack in Murshidabad on polling day died on Wednesday. With this, the number of people killed in connection with the election has reached 49. The Trinamool dominated Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad. The BJP, which came second, lost 22 percent votes compared to the last Lok Sabha elections. CPI(M), Left Front and Congress improved their position compared to 2018. In 2018, the CPI-M got only 5 percent votes, this time it got 12.6 percent votes. The party got more than 32 lakh votes. The Congress got 13.94 lakh votes and the ISF, which collaborated with the Left Front, got more than half a percent of the votes. CPI-M won 3685 gram panchayat seats and got the governance of 41 gram panchayats and four panchayat samitis. CPI-M has won four seats in Nandigram’s Nurai panchayat.
