The Society of Outdoor Establishments of Quebec (Sépaq) plans to build 54 ready-to-camp Étoile in five establishments in its network.
A call for tenders on this subject was published recently. Submissions must be submitted no later than August 10.
The distribution is planned as follows: 8 at the Saint-Maurice wildlife reserve, 12 at the Yamaska national park, 10 at the Plaisance national park, 14 at the Mont-Tremblant national park and 10 at the Frontenac national park.
Since 2008, Sépaq has offered its users the possibility of staying in ready-to-camp units. Over time, the formula was analyzed by architects, who reinvented the genre following customer feedback. The new “Etoile” model is situated between the tent and the chalet, offering more height, more reception capacity and more storage.
“Sépaq has developed a ready-to-camp concept consisting of a wooden structure and canvases installed on it,” reads the call for tenders.
The concept of “Etoile ready-to-camp” therefore differs from the other models formerly known as Huttopia and Hékipia, which now bear the name “traditional ready-to-camp”.
“Sépaq was a pioneer in ready-to-camp in the country by importing the concept from Europe in 2008. The formula immediately won the hearts of outdoor enthusiasts,” said Simon Boivin, spokesperson.
“In 2017, Sépaq developed its own ready-to-camp model. It is this model that today replaces the traditional ready-to-camp, which is more like a prospector’s tent. We have nearly 700 ready-to-camp units, Star and Traditional, across the network,” he added.

“When our traditional models reach the end of their useful life, we replace them with Stars and we recover the used canvases to make log holders.”
Timeline
In the case of the Saint-Maurice wildlife reserve and the Yamaska national park, the Étoile ready-to-camp must be delivered and installed no later than November 2023, while those of the other parks must be ready for the spring. and the beginning of summer 2024.
“We do not give the estimated costs before the closing of the call for tenders to avoid influencing the bids,” added Mr. Boivin.
