Rome Italy – The Nissan Formula E Team will rely on the speed demonstrated in the latest qualifying for the penultimate racing weekend of the 2022/2023 season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Rome. Races 13 and 14 are scheduled for the 15th and 16th.

The pair of pilots Sacha Fenestraz and Norman Nato demonstrated a strong rhythm of a lap in the last races, starting respectively in 2nd and 3rd place in the grid of the last race, in Portland (USA), and now intends to convert the rhythm of the qualifications into points in the double round that takes place this weekend.

After joining the Formula E calendar in 2018, the EUR Urban Circuit has become a favorite with drivers and fans alike thanks to its challenging layout. With 3.38 km in length, the route has 19 tight and complex curves in the midst of several monuments in Rome, such as the Obelisk of Marconi and the Palace of Congresses.

Qualifying for the Rome E-Prix starts at 05:40 (Brasília time), in both rounds. The race starts at 10:00 am on both days. Click here to find out how to watch.

Tommaso Volpe, general manager and head of the Nissan Formula E team:
“Rome is a very different circuit to Portland. The track surface is quite uneven, with little grip and fewer high-speed corners. One-lap pace is definitely our main strength now and qualifying will be key here as the track is narrower and there are fewer opportunities to overtake. In Rome we will also have Free Practice 0, which will give our simulator driver Luca an opportunity to race at home and help us prepare for the race. Luca has experience with the car and has been working a lot on this track in the simulator, so the data from this practice session with him will be very valuable for us”.

“To be fast in Rome we’re going to have to manage the irregularities of the track well – the drivers need to have complete confidence in the car on such a challenging circuit. We’ve made a number of updates since the last round in Portland and we believe they will make an even bigger difference at a track like Rome. We also expect to have to focus less on saving energy and that should change our weekend strategy.”

Sacha Fenestraz, Driver, Nissan Formula E Team:
“It’s really cool to race in Europe once more. It’s important to have a good weekend because this round will be double and then there will be only two races left for the end of the championship. I haven’t raced at the Rome track yet, but everyone knows it’s extremely bumpy and difficult, so I’m looking forward to being in the car and setting up a good race to get some positive results this weekend.”

Norman Nato, driver, Nissan Formula E Team:
“I love the Rome track, it’s one of the best tracks on the calendar. It is a very urban circuit, with an irregular track. I’ve always really enjoyed this race since I started as a rookie. We’ve improved our performance in qualifying and the race over the last few months and the focus now is on showing our pace in Rome to score good points over the two days.”

Luca Ghiotto, Simulator Driver, Nissan Formula E Team:
“I am really excited to drive the Nissan E-4ORCE 04 car this weekend and it will be even more special to do so at the Rome E-Prix as it will be my home race. I’ve been looking forward to doing this for a while – it’s going to be the highlight of the year for me! I’ve been working a lot on the simulator and I really like the layout of the track, so I can’t wait to be there for real. Free Practice 0 is a unique event, so it will be an opportunity for teams to have more track time and prepare for the race. It’s really cool to have this opportunity to help the team this weekend.”
