More than 30,000 homes were plunged into darkness Tuesday evening, due to power outages on the Hydro-Quebec network caused by strong winds.
The state corporation reported in its report at 5:16 a.m. of 31,283 households without electricity, the majority of which in Outaouais, the Laurentians and Quebec.
It is in the Outaouais that the situation seems critical with more than 100 Hydro-Québec customers affected by the outages and waiting to be reconnected.
Tuesday evening, the Laurentians and Quebec sectors were particularly badly hit, with 15,106 and 8,365 households respectively in the same situation. By early Wednesday, the situation was almost back to normal with 93 and 31 homes in the dark.
In Lanaudière and Centre-du-Québec, where power was almost restored everywhere, Hydro-Québec’s balance sheet temporarily reported 8,955 and 3,253 households without electricity.
