« If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. » Philip Kotler

Although the occupations of animator and administrative clerk appear to be different at first glance, there are a number of key skills that can be transferred between these two fields.

The organization

The role of activity leader consists of providing socio-educational support and supervising activities dedicated to children.

However, being a facilitator also means demonstrating an important organizational level and adapting to any situation. Organization is also the watchword of the administrative employee. This skill is important because of the maximization of the time it brings to the administrative employee who can thus devote more time to his collaborators. For his part, the facilitator saves time in order to guarantee the best support.

La communication

The facilitator has skills in communication, time management and event organization.

The leader’s experience in group management and teamwork can also be a valuable asset in the administrative world, where collaboration and the ability to work effectively with other people are necessary.

These skills may be directly applicable to an administrative role, where communicating effectively with clients and colleagues, managing tasks and coordinating activities are essential.

Working in a team, the professions of animator and administrative assistant must have a good sense of communication. It is important that the information flows in the best possible way and reaches the right people.

For my part, I was given the mandate to monitor an event organized for children of 8p. It was important to coordinate with my colleagues so as not to leave the children unsupervised and to know at all times where the supervisors are in the event of an accident. This required strong communication between the different members of the team in order to offer the best possible support.

I found this experience during an administrative position. Being in charge of welcoming customers as a receptionist, it was important for me to know where my various colleagues were in order to be able to direct customers as well as possible and notify them in case of absence. In addition, an element that can be required of both an animator and an administrative assistant is the organization of events. For this, it will be necessary to demonstrate interpersonal skills, organization and communication.

Rigueur

An animation is often carried out using equipment or even in external premises. It is therefore necessary to be rigorous in order to organize the activities as well as possible. We also find this rigor in the job of administrative assistant.

The latter will have to prepare documents upstream, in order to transmit them to his collaborators. He will also have to plan the agenda and the day of his collaborators. This will save time and work optimally. Versatility is also a skill strongly present in both. A strong adaptability to any unforeseen is required.

Finally, customer service is the skill that best symbolizes the fusion of these two professions. Making sure that the person in front of you feels comfortable from the first contact is essential. This will be decisive for the continuation of commercial activities. A customer who is put at ease is a customer who consumes.

This is also required for the facilitator who will show sympathy and empathy, in order to put the children at ease so that they can integrate into the group easily.

Challenges: diversification and versatility

Let’s now talk regarding the challenges that may arise in the process of professional retraining towards the job of administrative employee. The employee formerly present in the field of animation will be obliged to carry out various requalifications of skills and to learn how to use new computer tools.

One of the main difficulties that may arise may also lie in adapting to a different work environment. The facilitator is often used to a dynamic and interactive environment, while the administrative work may be more focused on routine tasks and document management.

Transitioning from a facilitator to an administrative employee can offer many benefits. First of all, it allows a diversification of skills and an opening to new career opportunities. By acquiring administrative skills, individuals can increase their versatility in the labor market and make themselves more attractive to employers.

Additionally, moving into administration can provide the professional stability that some people seek, as well as the potential for growth and advancement internally. Administrative roles often offer long-term career prospects, with opportunities for promotion and professional development.

In conclusion, the profession of animator and administrative assistant are highly linked on the human aspect. A facilitator will have to welcome people, whether customers or children who come to participate in the activities, just as much as an administrative assistant. To do this, they must be greeted in a cordial and sympathetic manner in order to relax and put the person in front of them at ease. This will ensure that the children have a good time and that the customers have the desire to shop. The organizational and planning part shown by the animation employees is also present in the job of administrative assistant which requires another rigor and another organization, as there are data or physical and telephone reception to be carried out .
