Vladimir Putin is said to have a fortified train in his arsenal that allows him to travel undetected.
Documents leaked today by the CNN news channel show plans for the Russian president’s ‘ghost’ train.
According to a report by the Dossier Center, the organization endorsed by former Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky and which investigates the criminal activities of the Kremlin, Putin has stopped using his presidential plane since the start of the invasion in Ukraine .
Former engineer and captain of Russia’s Federal Protective Service, Gleb Karakulov, told the Dossier Center in a secret interview that Putin relies almost entirely on travel by train.
“The planes immediately show up on the radars when taking off. The train can hide its movements.”
The documents CNN has found show the existence of a “health-sports train car” with a gym, a massage and skin care room as well as a spa and bath area.
The Dossier Center said the documents came from a contact at Zircon Service, a contractor for state-owned Russian Railways.
The Kremlin however contradicted the existence of this train to CNN. “President Putin has no such train under his belt.”
According to Abbas Gallyamov, Putin’s former speechwriter: “He’s losing the war, he’s losing political influence, he’s losing popularity.”
An increasingly “paranoid” Vladimir Putin, once more in the words of Abbas Gallyamov in an interview with the American media, “is making more and more enemies, who are committing more and more crimes”.
“He feels that he is surrounded by enemies and he wants to protect himself psychologically from all these things. Some in his inner circle take advantage of this insecurity to take advantage of it, telling him: “look there is a threat here, another here and another here”.

Although Vladimir Putin tries to strengthen his bond with the Russian people, as during the walkregarding he offered himself last week in Derbent in southern Russia, the protective walls he builds around him are the source of this distancing according to Gallyamov.
“He doesn’t travel often. He loses contact with the people. The people in his administration are worried. They understood that this is one of the problems that decreases its popularity. They probably tried to make his travels as comfortable as possible so that he was comfortable leaving his residence.
Despite the contradictions brought by the Kremlin, amateur train watchers shared on the site rutrain.com the presence of a “ghost train” on Russian railway lines. “He is not on the train schedule or in the systems of Russian Railways.”
