St. Pölten (OTS) – Like 100 years ago without electricity – this is how Adelheid Dullnig and her grandson Simon manage the Heiligenbachhütte, an alpine hut at 1850 meters above sea level in Carinthia. Although the hut is near the Nockalmstraße, a popular destination, they deliberately do without electricity. They want to remain authentic and the original furnishings of the house also belong to this philosophy – from the old smoked kitchen to the room where gray cheese is made and butter is beaten. A trip to another time on the Alm, which is appreciated by guests. This offers them real deceleration.
Other topics from “Land und Leute” on July 22nd:

Flax, one of the oldest cultivated plants in Europe: “Land and People” shows in Styria how it is grown and processed by an organic farmer, for example into linseed oil. In the Flax Museum you can see how linen was made from flax.
*Sustainable from nature
With herbalist Elisabeth Teufner from Lower Austria we are looking for healthy wild herbs and edible flowers. She conjures up wild herb spreads and a wild herb quiche from her harvest.
*Farmers for Conservation
In a project that is unique in Austria, twelve farmers have joined forces to form the FARN farmers’ initiative. They practice sustainable agriculture in the Natura 2000 area on the Mannsberg in Carinthia and bring nature conservation to the people.
* Participate in the court
At the Motzenhof in Adnet in Salzburg, “Country and People” shows how holiday guests can take part in everyday farm life. From contact with the animals to “tapping” the milk.
